Youth Ministry

Youth are the present of our church, not just the future. Our youth are happening now.

The youth programs in Nevada are run by the Diocesan Youth Council, a group of youth and adults who lead youth events. The DYC is made up of representatives from the Northern Youth Network and Southern Youth network. The networks allow youth and youth leaders to meet more often face to face.

In addition to congregational youth groups in many towns, we have state wide events. One is Happening, a weekend retreat for high school age participants. New Beginnings is a similar program for younger kids. We have begun sending Young Adults to VOCARE , a national program to help people figure out which direction to take in life.

There are major travel experiences too. Some congregations send their youth on mission trips to serve others in need and encounter different cultures. We send youth to The Episcopal Youth Event, a national gathering of Episcopal teens from all over the nation and beyond. We send youth to the Provincial Youth Event, a gathering of Episcopal teens from the West, even as far west as Hawaii.

Then there is the crown of our youth program: Camp Galilee located on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Check it out at www.galileetahoe.org. Youth can spend a week kayaking, hiking, and having fun together with their peers. Or they can become Camp Counselors, spending most of their summer watching over and leading a cabin full of admiring younger kids. Our Camp Counselors are the best!
